After curating an exhibition of photographs from the MoMA online collection, I created a typographic response for each image. I selected the “Voynich Botanical Studies” by Miljohn Ruperto and Ulrik Heltoft, a series of imaginary plant specimens created with a 3-D modeling software that blends found images and textures. My typographic response was inspired by the Rorschach inkblot tests that create a similar feeling of mystery. After much hand done experimentation with letterforms created with ink, I developed my own font and juxtaposed it with the imagery.
